Cambridge Bicycle is stoked to be sponsoring the upcoming DIY alleycat race, CARGOCAT! The race is a benefit for Bikes to Rwanda, a non-profit dedicated to supplying cargo bikes for coffee farmers in Rwanda. Volunteer/registration info is in the flyer above.
WHAT: CargoCat: A Benefit Race for Bikes to Rwanda
WHEN: Saturday, October 22nd
TIME: 7:00 PM Registration, 7:45PM Race, Followed by Afterparty!
WHERE: Registration at Copley Square
CargoCAT is a benefit alleycat race on October 22nd. We’re excited by the massive amounts of support we’re receiving, from our sponsors, afterparty hosts, and all those who are volunteering.
What’s the deal with the CargoCAT name? 100% of the money goes to Bikes to Rwanda — a nonprofit that helps develop a sustainable transportation infrastructure for cooperative coffee farmers in Rwanda by providing purpose-built cargo bikes. The ability to transport coffee from farm to mill means a world of difference.
Rather than spending an entire day walking while the coffee cherries ferment, hundreds of pounds can be transported in an hours ride. This preserves the coffee quality and fetches higher prices, meaning more money that can be invested back into coffee growing communities. Cargo bikes aren’t just a means of transport, they’re another step to sustaining growth and development in a country that is rebuilding its economy and infrastructure.
