Straight Bar Adventure

From april30
This customer had this mona-lisa smile about him as he picked up his repair, so I asked him if he had just had straight bars installed. He said he had and I responded with, "that's so cooool." He had bought the fuji track from us and was now making the journey to a customized street machine. I've been helping people do this for over 10 years so I know the inevitable excitement a cyclist feels when he or she customizes their ride for the first time and really begins to take ownership of their bicycle. It may not be a perfect fit yet...but it is the beginning of true love between man and machine.

Mike Giant (amazing graffiti artist) has done a nice piece for Cinelli consisting of his 1964 Super Corsa Pista. Cinelli decided to do a limited production run hopefully available soon through the shop, let us know if you are interested in getting one.
FINALLY...Vittoria 1976
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Monday, 2009-April-27
So finally someone has stepped up and made a somewhat decent looking SPD compatible shoe that is comfortable to wear on and off the bike. Vittoria has basically reissued an old shoe from the 70's with newer features to allow it to be SPD compatible and still very walkable. The shoes will be coming in a wide range of colors and apparently are only for fixed gear riders, however, word is they work on geared bikes as well. I am still waiting for SPD compatible Reebok Pumps, but I am not holding my breath.

Some final pics of Portsmouth, such a dream of a town with historic preservation but i was surprised to see such few bikes out there. It was easy to imagine the town without cars but to see what will follow will take a bit more foresight.

The Juicery in Portsmouth N.H.
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Friday, 2009-April-24

We just had our busiest day of the year at Cambridge Bicycle, and at times like these I wish we had the store the size of an aircraft hanger. It gets real tight and hot(soon to be hotter) and it gets a bit stressful. I guess you can see where this post is going, as I met alex last sat. He is the owner of the Juicery in Portsmouth N.H. and he operates his business full-time in a space of less than 400sq ft. We ate there four times in two days as we were so impressed by the quality of his food and his attention to detail in our quest for the perfect smoothie and salad. His energy seems boundless as he brings a super-energy to his service. Energy, I and the staff of Cambridge aspire to this year as we anticipate our greatest year ever, both in sales and projects. Thanks Alex for your inpsiration and excellent food!

I took a couple days off to explore Portsmouth and i tripped onto the Ello gallery and shop. Our man John Bailey sponsored this cool project where N.H, Artists were able to unleash their creative powers on some of our favorite bags. The results as you can see are stunning. So --head up to Portsmouth to check this out. More posts to come on this trip.
