Jamis Commuter 1 2010
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Monday, 2010-January-25

We've carried Jamis' Commuter series for years, but for 2010 they're really upping the ante. For 2010 all of their Commuter bikes have internally geared hubs and fenders, as well as slimmer saddles. Above is pictured the Commuter 1. It has a Shimano Nexus 3-speed hub, an elegant Noah's Arc-type bar, and is easily outfitted with racks, baskets, water bottle cages, and other commuting accessories. It has v-brakes and levers by Tektro, and is available as a step-through frame. It also looks great, too. It's also only $445, and is a much nicer bike than the Commuter 1 of years past.
Kryptonite Keys
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Monday, 2010-January-25

My u-lock was giving me some trouble over the past few weeks, and I wasn't sure why. Then I realized that I had been using it almost every day for a year and a half. I had a couple backup keys that came with it, so I started using a new one and the lock worked like brand new! The old one is on the bottom. You can see that some of the notches are almost completely worn away.

If you have a Kryptonite lock, be sure to always one or two extra hidden somewhere safe. It also helps if you squirt some Triflow (or other light weight oil) into the lock every few months, especially during prolonged periods of wet weather. If water gets into your lock, it may freeze in there. You can solve this problem by thawing it with a lighter, or prevent it by using the lock's shield and hanging it keyhole down. With a little preparedness and preventative maintenance, a Kryptonite lock can last for years.
SE Lager 2010
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Wednesday, 2010-January-20

SE's Lager is a bike that just keeps on improving. In stock we currently have their black/white model and it looks sharp! The Lager is built as a single speed with a flip-flop hub. It comes with some solid parts, too: headset by Cane Creek, brakes and levers by Tektro, and cranks by FSA. The top tube pad even has a zipper, rather than velcro. We have a 54 cm model on the floor but will be getting more in the near future. It's a great street-ready single speed bike, especially for the price of $650.

2010 KHS Flite 100
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Tuesday, 2010-January-12

The KHS Flite 100 has always been a great choice for a sub-$800 track bike, and this year is no exception. With its double-butted chromoly frame, track geometry, metal pedals with toe clips, and super light weight, it's an excellent choice for street and velodrome riding alike. This year it comes in gold, green, and black color options, with a track drop bar, and three-piece front brake. The best part is that it's dropped in price from $660 to only $599! We have a 55 cm currently in stock, and we'll be getting more sizes in upcoming weeks. We can even order it as a framset for custom builds! Stop on by to hear more reasons why this bike makes a great beginner track bike, everyday city bike, or even an internal-hub conversion.

Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Tuesday, 2010-January-05

We got a new shipment in from SE today, and everyone was tearing open the boxes to check out the colors for 2010. Above Pete is assembling the 2010 SE Draft in the gold color scheme. We're excited about new models coming out this year and improvements on 2009 favorites, so we're going to be blogging some of our favorites over the next week or so. Stay tuned to see what's hot for the new year!
