Pete is a member of our mechanic staff, races cyclocross with our friends at Geekhouse, and has excellent sense of bike building. Aside from having one of the most nicest commuter bikes I've seen (an old Soma frame with a mix of vintage high-end Shimano and new parts, plus cruiser bars!) he has a couple other rides. The Green, a steel three-speed by KHS, has had a place in our shop and hearts for years. It's inexpensive, durable, and comes with a rack, fenders, bell, and Dutch lock. We've carried Jamis' Commuter series for years, but for 2010 they're really upping the ante. For 2010 all of their Commuter bikes have internally geared hubs and fenders, as well as slimmer saddles. We received a large shipment from Merry Sales Co. this past week, filled with a lot of new product. In the main window we have a Pake C'Mute frameset ($359.95). We've had the Cambridge model from Fuji in our store for some time (as seen in our window display this past summer), but it's such a great bicycle it deserves its own post. This bike was the belle of the ball at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show. It has appeared on higher profile blogs...but we CB is actually offering the thing for sale!
