Stephen was one of our new summer additions to our mechanic staff here and at Superb, and he’s been racing with the CB team for a little while (and recently got his UCI license for road!). To prepare for this season’s cyclocross races he ordered a custom chromoly frame and fork from Chris Igleheart.
Stephen’s bike is 100% feather-light chromoly – no carbon tubing here. The parts on it include Thomson stem, seatpost, and saddleclamp, TRP magnesium cantilever brakes, Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheelset, and a SRAM Red groupset. For being steel, it’s deceptively light. Chromoly gets a bad reputation for being heavy, and this bike is proof of that.
If you have any questions on building up a cross bike for this season, or ordering one from one of our brands, stop by the shop and talk. The season’s getting started now, and it’s too much fun to miss out on.
