What, exactly, is the Raleigh Tamland series all about? While some may simply label it as a “gravel/endurance” model, we think of it as much, much more. We like it because it’s made with Reynolds 631 frame with a steel fork, outfitted with 11-speed Shimano 105 components, TRP Spyre disc brakes, and is based around 700×40 tire size with room to spare. The Tamland isn’t simply a cyclocross bike with bigger tires, but has geometry that’s tuned for riding on roads in all conditions. You can expect to find yourself at home on a Tamland on a snow-fallen Boston sidestreet, rough-condition rural dirt roads that coverNew England, and events like the Deerfield Dirt Road Randonee or the Vermont Overland.
Practically speaking, it has commuter-friendly features besides wide tires including eyelets for a rear rack and full-coverage fenders, sealed bearing hubs and headset, and shallow-drop handlebars. While the Tamland would thrive as a dedicated city commuter, it also makes a great adventure light touring bike. We can’t wait to see one with a handlebar bag and panniers set off on a weekend tour. We have one in stock in a 56cm and can special order other sizes as needed. Stop by and see why the Tamland may be your next all-arounder.
