Matthew Eberhardt, son of New England Velodrome director Tony Eberhardt, prepares to launch on his record setting ride.
Riding a specially prepared bike from the Manchester Police Athletic League and wearing high-tech fabrics donated by MIT Cycling, Matt went 3:09 for the mile, setting a new record for his age category. While the crowd cheered him on, Matthew repeatedly got out of the saddle to power through the windy back straight and kept on a consistent schedule throughout the 5 lap effort. Afterwards Matthew thanked his sponsors, his family, and said he was hungry.
This, my friends, is the future of cycling.
